It's Christmas time again, and this year I've found a story that I think you will really enjoy. I saw it on the shelf and couldn't resist picking it up to read to you. I have a soft-spot for eastern culture, fables, and philosophies, and since you're such an accomplished world traveller I thought you might too.
Your Auntie Sara and I, and especially Leah, were all so thrilled to see you, your brothers, and your Mom and Dad this past fall. We love you guys so much, and miss you terribly. Hopefully, after our new baby gets here, we'll figure out a time to come visit you in Paris, or perhaps to take a combined family European vacation.
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas, a happy New Year, and may fortune smile upon you!
In the valley of Fruitless mountain, a young girl named Minli lives in a ramshackle hut with her parents. In the evenings, her father regales her with old folktales of the Jade Dragon and the Old Man of the Moon, who knows the answers to all of life's questions.
Inspired by these stories, Minli sets off on an extraordinary journey to find the Old Man of the Moon to ask him how she can change her family's fortune. She encounters an assorted cast of characters and magical creatures along the way, including a dragon who accompanies her on her quest for the ultimate answer.
